Suma Walking Group – Ogden Water
The Latest Outing – Ogden Water
The latest Suma walk was a gentle circular and very picturesque walk around the reservoir known as Ogden Water near Halifax.
Meeting at the conveniently situated car park on the East side the intrepid seven set off on the easy track towards Ogden Clough. Despite the forecast being for changeable weather (which can often mean heavy rain in my experience), there were even shorts in evidence from one hardy (or potentially foolhardy) member of the group – see pic – tough these SUMA folk!
As we continued past “Cold Edge” we were able to see the 22 wind turbines at Knoll Hill and what I was reliably informed was the now closed Withens pub (shame).
The view at this point was extensive over Halifax and the surrounding areas and prompted some reminiscing.
We set off on the return stretch down the cobbled Withens Road past the scenic Halifax Ogden Golf Course which I imagine must be somewhat bleak and challenging in the colder months.
After crossing the dam wall (signed grandly as a promenade) we finished with welcome sarnies and flasks overlooking the reservoir.
Another really enjoyable Suma saunter in the great outdoors.

A good walk, shame the Top Withens pub had closed years earlier!
