The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2017 – Recognition for our co-operative achievements

We are very proud to announce that we’ve gained the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

The Queen’s Awards are amongst the most prestigious awards in UK, designed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of British businesses. We’ve been recognized for our strong, continued growth in international sales as well as our co-operative ethos and great employment benefits, such as equal pay for all workers and flexible working.

Our International Sales Team

This recognition couldn’t be more perfectly timed, as 2017 marks our 40th anniversary as a successful worker co-op. So now we have even more reasons to celebrate!

As a worker co-operative, our business decisions are made collectively, and we operate with an ethos of shared responsibility and commitment. We offer worker benefits like a free cooked meal every day, flexible working arrangements and ongoing personal development through multi-skilling. We believe it’s this approach that’s given us the resilience and flexibility to grow our sales internationally to reach new markets.

Stephen Newton, a member of our International Sales Team, says “we’re really thrilled at the amazing growth of our international sales, and that we can make delicious, ethical vegetarian food available to a wider audience than ever. By winning this award we’re proud to show that our worker co-operative, where each member gets equal pay and an equal say in the business, can hold its own against the big players in international trade”.
