So 2017 is off to a promising start, and we’ve got positive vibes about how the rest of the year will pan out. As the days get gradually lighter, Suma workers are starting to emerge from hibernation under desks or behind sacks of lentils, and gearing up for what’s going to be a lively few months. 2017 is a particularly exciting year for us, because we’re celebrating our 40th birthday! We’ll have lots of exciting activities including a special celebratory presence at some of the trade shows this year.
As part of our 40th celebrations we’ve developed exciting new partnerships with our community, our suppliers and fellow co-ops internationally. We’ve invested in the Peruvian producers that make our coffee, we’re getting involved in environmental activities with a local school and speaking to charity and community groups to see what support we can offer. We’ll keep you informed of new developments as the year goes on.
Working in a co-op where equality is one of our most deeply held values, sometimes I take for granted that my voice has no less worth because I’m a woman. But International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th March is an important reminder that equal say, rights and pay is still a long way off for many.
Have a great spring, and if you’re looking for even more product inspiration, add a copy of our Spring Brochure BK018 to your next order.
