Treeplanting and flood works

Submitted by on March 22, 2017 – 5:12 amNo Comment

Suma workers recently helped Treesponsibility celebrate their 19th birthday in style – planting trees on a steep hillside in the Upper Calder valley.

The weather was cold and sunny and you can see from the photos that everyone enjoyed the fresh air. We planted native species including hawthorn and blackthorn.

Treeplanting not only helps keep our business carbon neutral, but also contributes to preventing local flooding. Our local area was hit hard by the floods on Boxing day 2016. Treesponsibility have been working with academics and industry professionals on the SOURCE project further information at the following link.

This work includes creating some earthworks to slow down the rate of flow and contain water. We continue to contribute in making improvements in our environment for our local community.
