How long have you worked at Suma and why did you initially join?
I have been at Suma for just over a year now. Many things appealed to me; Suma’s ethical views, all members having a say in the management of the company, a true belief in equality, the vast amount of opportunities that are available to everybody… And the amazing staff benefits of course!
What do you love about working at Suma?
It’s got to be the people here! I have met some wonderful friends over the last year and everybody works so hard together to make Suma what it is.
What is your typical Suma week?
I do a different job every day of the week and multi-skilling definitely keeps work interesting! On a Monday I check off deliveries. Tuesdays I load finished orders onto the trucks ready for the drivers, this includes manoeuvring our trucks around the yard. Wednesdays I am in the Goods Despatch office invoicing orders. Thursdays I work within the Brand team, as the Cooperative and Educational Coordinator. And finally, on a Friday, I pick in the warehouse!
What are your hobbies and interests?
With two young children at home I don’t have much time for hobbies and interests (apart from lots of reading and singing and dancing around our kitchen)! But when I do get chance I like going to the theatre, reading and going for long walks in our lovely Yorkshire countryside!
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
I once did a 14 thousand foot sky dive!
I’ve always wanted to …
See a West End musical (or be in one!).
You are stranded on a desert island; what’s in your store cupboard?
Pasta, Suma’s tinned chopped tomatoes, a variety of soup and plenty of cereal!
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
It would have to be Stonehenge being erected, so I could see how on earth they managed it!
If you could chose one meal to eat for the rest of your days, what would it be?
Definitely pasta, with lots of chopped veg in a sauce and cheese!
