Coeliac Awareness Week

Submitted by on May 15, 2014 – 2:24 pmNo Comment

Gluten Free ProductsThis week is Coeliac Awareness Week (it began on Monday and runs until Sunday 18th May). This year’s theme focuses on the availability of gluten-free food in shops. Coeliac UK, the oldest and largest coeliac disease charity in the world, have asked shops, stores and supermarkets to sign up to their ‘Gluten-free Guarantee’.
Signing up to the guarantee means that the shop will carry certain gluten-free items. Through discussion with their members and health professionals they have prepared a list of eight core gluten-free items that should be easily available in all shops;
• fresh white bread
• fresh brown bread
• bread rolls
• breakfast cereals
• pasta
• flour
• crackers
• cereal bars

You can find more information about the Gluten Free Guarantee, Coeliac Disease, gluten free diets and more by visiting the Coeliac UK website.

Here at Suma we have a very large range of gluten free products. Visit our website and use the search function to find particular products, or click here to see our full range.
