River Cottage select Suma as supplier for their new venture

River Cottage is working with Hollins Hall Country Club located in Baildon - near Shipley,
West Yorkshire - to make improvements in its ethical, seasonal and local food procurement.

Their aim is to source over 80 percent of their food within a 60-mile radius, supporting local communities and the local economy, as well as serving the freshest and most seasonal dishes. Suma is delighted to have been selected as a premium supplier for this admirable venture.

 Andrew Mackintosh from Suma’s New Business Team said ‘I’ve been working with the River Cottage team in the build up to the launch. They’re very impressed with our product range and also the ethics and value that we share. Suma will be supplying all of the dry goods as well as ice creams and sorbets on their menu. Our relationship has got off to a great start and we’re looking forward to working with them in the future.’

 The Hollins Hall kitchen teams have been trained at River Cottage Chefs’ School, learning about how they can source, prepare and cook dishes that change on a daily basis. ‘We’re committed to further improving our sustainability by reducing waste and ensuring all our food is organic and sustainably-sourced,’ said their executive chef Gary Armitage.

 Launched on 14 October, Hollins Hall is one of the two Marriott Hotels to work in partnership with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage. This partnership celebrates the best of Yorkshire by supporting local suppliers. If the new concept is successful they plan to roll it out to more hotels across the country.
