The New Chocolate Bar that Helps to Fight Cancer

Submitted by on May 8, 2012 – 9:09 am5 Comments

Andi's BarThe Organic Seed & Bean Company have just re-launched their very special milk chocolate bar in partnership with Andi’s Fund, for Breast Cancer Campaign, which will support research into breast cancer genetics.

Andi’s fund is named after Andi Bernstein, who loved milk chocolate, so creating a chocolate bar to support this cause seemed like a great way to raise money for this vital work.

The statement below is from Tony Bernstein, who lost his wife Andi.

“My wife Andi Bernstein shone a light on everyone around her. Andi was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34, when our son Jamie was only six months old. She fought and fought, never complained and constantly provided positive support and energy to fellow sufferers. After thirteen years, Andi passed away, aged 47. Andi saw research into genetics as a key to the cure and so Andi’s Fund aims to raise £1 million over the next three years for this life saving research. Please visit breastcancercampaign.org/andisfund for more information and to see other ways you can get involved.”

Organic Seed and Bean Limited will donate a minimum 10% of a wholesale price from the sale of this product to Breast Cancer Campaign.

Breast Cancer Campaign is a registered charity (Charity numbers 299758 and SCO39974) and a company limited by guarantee (Company no. 05074725).

  • Glennis says:

I just wanted to say that I find it odd that a chocolate bar containing milk is used to promote a breast cancer campaign. Milk contains growth factor which encourages tumour growth – just a thought.

  • carly says:

I think its a great idea,
To Glennis to say that eating something containing milk will encourage breast cancer is very irresponsible. If eating a small piece of chocoloate with milk is a pleasure and detracts from the stresses and worries of daily life it will contra any negitive effect of a small amount of milk.

  • nick says:

Dairy free chocolate provides the same pleasure and isn’t linked with higher rates of breast cancer. Also considering that milk comes from the breasts of cows it seems very unsuitable for such a product to be marketed like this, women of all people should be outraged by the treatment of milk cows.

  • Shelly Statham says:

I agree with Glennis , I have done my research, cows milk is for calves and the biggest dairy eating nations have the highest rates of breast cancer and osteoporosis. Milk is deffo a food to avoid in my opinion and a most cruel and unethical food http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-food/dairy-industry.aspx

  • Violet says:

PETA cannot treat human beings well let alone animals and their methodology is suspect at best. I am suspicious of any “research” of theirs.

As for a link between breast cancer and milk consumption, I presume commenters can provide peer reviewed and epidemiologically sound studies proving causation – because as we all know correlation does not imply causation…
