Our Frozen Range is Bigger and Better than Ever!

Submitted by on January 12, 2012 – 3:29 pmNo Comment

It’s been a huge undertaking, but we are thrilled to say that after many months of hard work we have now completed the construction of an impressive new 130 square-metre freezer unit. This effectively doubles the amount of products we can offer in our frozen range.
Now is a great time to take advantage of this varied new selection of products. For the budget-conscious, frozen food is an economical choice and because freezing is a good way to lock in nutrients, it appeals to healthy eaters too. Frozen food can actually be more ‘fresh’ than chilled produce. Food stored in the freezer is less likely to be wasted due to the long shelf-life of frozen items; given that £10 billion worth of food is needlessly thrown away by britons each year, this makes it a significant way to reduce the amount of food that we waste. To make the most out of your freezer we suggest keeping it well stocked as a full freezer is an efficient freezer!

Our new freezer allows us to hold as many as three hundred different products from national brands like Quorn, Linda McCartney and Green & Blacks to smaller artisan products like Honeybuns with their delicious gluten free cakes and Cresson burgers made with English watercress. Frozen Buyer Jenny Carlyle says of our selection; “we want to offer key brands and best sellers, but in line with Suma’s ethical buying policy we are always keen to support fledgling producers and bring them to a national stage. Doubling our freezer capacity means we can do both, and with the huge amount of new, innovative and great tasting products out there I will be filling the new freezer very quickly indeed!

“There are so many fantastic new products that it’s difficult just to pick a few! I’m particulary excited about the Windmill Hill British fruits range, they’re great value and look and taste amazing, with some of the biggest blackberries I have ever seen! Bally Bleat’s Goat’s Milk ice cream is bound to surprise you with its mild and creamy taste and the gluten free bake-off bread from Feel Free is so good that some of our sales team thought it was home made. Samosaco also have a great offering with both retail packs and food service options – their pakora and samosas are a huge hit in the Suma canteen.”
