Lord Lieutenant’s Tour of Calderdale
On 22nd April 2010 Suma were honoured to receive a visit from Dr Ingrid Roscoe, the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and her clerk Kevin Sharp. The Lord Lieutenant is the Queens representative in West Yorkshire. She was accompanied by The Mayor of Calderdale, Arshad Mahmood, and other interesting characters from Calderdale on a tour of businesses and social enterprises in Calderdale.
The Lord Lieutenant was completely approachable, knowledgeable and interested in our operation and our people (and a great fan of musesli). It was also great to meet the Mayor and understand his challenges and interests in our community.
We also had the chance to meet Leigh Anne-Stradeski, The CEO of Eureka, The National Children’s Museum, who Suma have worked with on and off with over the years. And we also met Steve Duncan, The CEO of the Community Foundation For Calderdale, and many of the trustees of the CFCC. It was great to make links with CFFC who do an invaluable job of fundraising and improving the quality of life for people in Calderdale.
In the short time (20 mins) it wasn’t possible to personally meet all the guests but maybe over time we can get to know more of them starting with our presence as a speaker at their next event in Halifax.

The Group enjoyed a brief tour of Suma and a presentation by Alex and Mathew seemed to leave the party impressed with the sustainable business model we have developed over the last thirty years and a inkling that a Queens Award for Industry could be a possible target for us to aim for in the future.
