Greener Together with Co Ops Uk
Suma is taking part in an exciting project in sustainable living, organised by Co-ops UK. The aim is to get as large a sample population as possible to make changes in their behaviour which do not cost a lot in terms of time, inconvenience or effort. This is intended to demonstrate to the wider population that it is possible to make incremental changes to the way we treat transport, waste and energy at an individual level, that translate to significant savings at community and national level and beyond.
The initiative is based on the premise that people get discouraged from taking action to lower their impact on the environment for a variety of reasons but often it is because they cannot really see that it makes any difference. It’s true that if you leave all your domestic appliances on ‘standby’ it will only add a few pounds a year to your energy bill but at a national level standby power accounts for a staggering 8% of the total British domestic power consumption, with all the associated CO2 emissions.
Participation in the project is open to all and we would actively encourage our customers to go on the Greener Together website and register to take part. You can register your interest under Suma’s name and then get involved in showing how easy it really can be to consume less, waste less and live more healthily into the bargain.
