Co-operative Fortnight
June 19th and July 3rd 2010 – the first Co-operative Fortnight
There has been an increasing awareness in Co-operative working over that last few years. Cooperatives have been advocated by politics, community shops and co-operative schools have been formed and covered in the press and the Co-operative Group have increased their advertising – raising awareness for all co-operatives. To compound this, Co-operatives UK have announced the first Co-operative Fortnight.
Co-ops throughout the UK will be promoting co-operative working during this time by holding events, open days, presentations and celebrations. Suma intends to hold an open day for local businesses.

Co-ops come in many forms – in the UK most people instantly think of the Co-op group with food retailing, banking, funeral, travel agents and pharmacy branches. However there are a wealth of co-ops accross the country doing diverse activities from co-op schools, design agencies, bike shops, phone companies as well as food wholesaling - there seems to be no business or institution which cannot be run in a co-operative fashion but all abiding by their co-operative principles.
If you are interested in co-operative working, how to start a co-op or convert an existing business or just curious about how Suma works we’re always happy to answer questions and provide useful contacts and advice – please leave us a message.
