Submitted by on March 25, 2010 – 3:44 pmNo Comment

acornAcorn, a highly regarded and well established wholefood cafe is up for sale in Shorpshire. Owner Chris Bland has been running Acorn cafe for over 24 years, and is now thinking it’s time to take a well earned rest. Chris contacted Suma because she is keen to pass on the business to someone with a shared interested in wholefoods, who will continue to build on the cafe’s success in a similar vein. She hoped some of our loyal customers and followers may be able to spread the word, or know of someone who may want to take advantage of this opportunity.

About Acorn Wholefood Cafe

Acorn cafe is located in the heart of the Shropshire hills. They are situated on the main street in Church Stretton – look out for the ivy covered entrance, and have both inside and outside eating areas. In the summer the lovely tea garden is a haven of peace, with only the birds to share your enjoyment. Inside Acorn caters for up to fifty people, in the Little Oaks or Acorn Coffee lounges.

They continue to produce new recipes, the soup range is endless, and always have a variety of vegetarian options available.
All the dishes served throughout the day are home cooked and freshly prepared. They are real food taste dishes, made with love, and a sense of helping customers to achieve their healthy eating habits.

All of the fruit for the fruit pies and crumbles is picked locally, and all the jams served with homemade scones are also made from this fruit. They make thier own marmalade, humus, mincemeat and salad dressings.

Acorn is famed specialty are the hot meat pies, which compliment the many vegetarian dishes, and they also have a selection of varied cakes and desserts to die for. Many dishes are geared to specialist diets and tastes, with gluten free, sugar free, wheat free and vegan tastes catered for. Local ingredients are used when available, organic wholemeal flour to make pastry, scones, cakes and puddings. Organic ingredients are always used as a first choice. The wide selection of teas and coffee are all fairtrade.

Acorn prides itself on real, home made food, made from carefully selected ingredients that enhance your appetite, but won’t damage your digestive system. It’s a unique place, and one whose legacy will hopefully live on if it can find the right owner.
