Professional photographer John Steel visits Suma
On Friday February 5th, local photographer John Steel came to visit Suma and take some photos of the cooperative in action.
John spent the afternoon photographing our warehouse, canteen, and offices upstairs. We’ll use these pictures on our website, and also in our catalogue, brochures, and promotional materials.
We really like his natural style to photography, and think he managed to make our premises look great, and show Suma at it’s best.
Here are a sample of pictures taken by John:
Suma’s warehouse
A panoramic view of our warehouse, taken from the mezzanine. This is where we store our 6000+ lines of vegetarian, vegan, fair trade, organic, eco and wholefood products.
This is another shot of our warehouse, taken from the mezzanine floor. The blur in the picture is Suma member Mick. He usually walks a little bit slower, but it must have been a busy day so he’s turned it up to turbo for this shot.
This is Sean, showing of his extremely high and well stacked pallet. Our drivers love pallets like this, they dream about their 90 degree angles and cuboid form.
This is a view down one of the aisles in the warehouse. Paul is replenishing the stock, helping to keep our out of stock levels some of the lowest in the industry.
Here is Claire working in the icy cold fridge, picking some Rachels organic yogurt. Most people when working in the fridge take basic survival precautions; wear a hat, scarf, gloves, and at least 4 layers. Apart from Gary Braithwaite, who happily works away in his jean and t-shirt, earning himself the nick names ‘ice maiden’ or ‘fridge magnet’.
This is Jonathan, unloading a pallet of Suma Ecoleaf toilet tissue. We always make sure we have a large supply of this, no one likes running out of toilet tissue.
Suma’s Canteen
We think it’s the best vegetarian canteen in the UK
This is Julie, that day she made a delicious onion, cheese and pesto tart, with a tomato and pesto option for the vegans amongst us. (editors note – it was actually the best i’ve ever tasted) Julie’s not been working in the canteen for long, but we hope this is just the start of a long lasting role for her at Suma.
Sheena is famous for so many culinary delights. Some people refuse to eat lemon drizzle cake unless it’s been made by Sheena. Here she is making some pastry. Sheena also produced the Suma Kiddies Cookbook, with illustrations by Helen Bridge. Get a free copy of the cookbook by sending us an email (info@suma.coop), or by following the link and adding one to your next order.
and here is the canteen, notice the only plates in sight are empty ones!
Suma’s Offices
This is our meeting room. In this particular meeting Suma’s newest batch of trial members meet with some of suma’s newest members for help and advice with the trial member process.
Our reception, where we have some of our Suma brand products on display, including our new Suma mueslis and Ecoleaf, our environmentally friendly cleaning range.
and finally, this is Richard Hizzard, aka Delboy. Richard loves a bargain, and searches out great offers to pass on to our customers.
