Suma Delivers Despite The Snow

Submitted by on January 8, 2010 – 5:58 pm3 Comments

The big freeze update

Despite the snow and ice our Suma drivers have all managed well in the difficult conditions, when the rest of the country has resigned itself to essential journeys only. We have many stories of the difficulties in digging cars and trucks out and even helping the general public.

Today we have trucks in Northumbria, Borders, Glasgow and Wales, all experiencing some of the worst weather conditions in the last thirty years.

Suma driver goes the extra mile

Whilst battling the treacherous conditions out on her run this Tuesday/Wednesday 5th/6th Jan 2010.  Wales/Mersey driver (Kerry Hughes),  went the extra mile. Kerry showed that her cooperative spirit extends far further than Suma. Donning her ‘care in the community’ cap, Kerry braved the harsh conditions, in order to assist an elderly lady whose mobility scooter had ground to a halt on a steep, icy, Merseyside incline.

Kerry said ‘What made this run most difficult is the lack of sat nav and the fact that the road signs were covered in snow’
Ah! the joys of being a Suma driver.

Well done Kerry. You´re a top woman. And well done to all the other fabulous Suma drivers. You´ve all shamed the rest of the country with their ´can´t do attitude´.

You´ve made me proud to be a member of our fabulous co-op.

    Take good care though

    Love love

  • […] Despite the bad weather, most Suma drivers have been making deliveries to all our usual areas where it is safe to do so. For more snowy pics of us out on the road see Suma delivers despite the snow […]

It’s been a tough few weeks and I’m sure every driver would agree they would be happy to see the end of the snow and ice.

Highlights for me have included sleeping on the hardshoulder of the A45 and numerous blocked roads.

Thanks to the customers who have waited patiently and often made the effort to meet us half way – a huge help and greatly appreciated!!
