New Ecoleaf Environmentally Friendly Cleaning Products from Suma

Ecoleaf – Cleaning with a clean conscience

Last year Suma launched its own unique range of environmentally friendly household cleaning products that was non-toxic and safe for use around the home. We were dissatisfied with other environmentally friendly cleaning products because we felt they either didn’t work, were too expensive, weren’t cruelty free or were manufactured abroad.

We have now added to the existing range (toilet cleaner, multisurface cleaner, laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, hand soap and washing-up liquid) and added washing powder, stain remover and a concentrated washing up liquid.  The washing powder is packed into plastic tubs with tight sealing lids to keep your powder dry (we suggest you you refill your tub from the 10kg paper sack available -  but be sure to store the sack away from kitchens and other wet, humid or damp areas). We have brought out the concentrated washing-up liquid following customer feedback – its greener as well to transport smaller bottles.

Vegan and Cruelty Free cleaning products made in the UK

  •  This range is actually produced in the UK.
  • Humane household product standard - Cruelty free products checked by the BUAV who campaign against animal experiments.
  • Vegan – products contain nothing of animal origin and are registered with the Vegan Society.
  • Recyclable logo – All containers are recyclable.
  • Competitively priced
  • Only available to  independent shops, not available in the Supermarkets

The Ecoleaf range of cleaning products is derived from plant extracts and is based on biodegradable and non-hazardous ingredients. All the extracted plant ingredients are from sustainable sources. Most cleaning products are derived from petroleum-based resources and may contain harsh chemicals such as phosphates, caustics and other chemicals that can be hazardous to the user and the environment.

We’re still developing this range and would love to hear your comments about improvements we could make, new products, sizes etc.

I just got samples of the laundry liquid and washing-up liquid from my local wholefood/fresh food workers co-op and I used the laundry liquid this morning. I wish the sample bottle had included instructions, but I just settled on using as much liquid as I do with my current detergent. The smell was a really lovely surprise and, despite it seeming very runny compared to what I’m used to, the Suma sample seems to have done a fine job of cleaning. I like the better than most eco and ethical credentials for this product, as well as the UK-based production but I would need to have bulk refills of this product available in my area (Sheffield) before I would consider switching. The thought of buying unnecessary packaging just to get at the product inside isn’t something that sits well with me. All in all, though, seem like a very promising new range.

It is with regret that I bring you news that we are unlikely to see the first delivery of our new ecoleaf facial tissues before the end of January.

Our buyer is checking with our supplier every other day to hopefully bring us better news than this!

    ***COMPLAINT***

I’ve been using the Fabric Conditioner for a while now, but the last bottle that I have bought is Un-usable. It is so thick, it’s like PVA glue, and has clogged my machine. Something has definitely gone wrong in the manufacture.

I have searched this site for a “customer services” link, but that does not exist. So I’m airing my complaint in public in the hope that someone from the company will get in-touch with me.

CUSTOMER SERVICES guys, it makes a great deal of difference and you don’t get complaints posted on your blog

    Product batch number: 915270

  • Paul C@Suma says:

    Hi James
We at Suma appreciate you getting in touch about the fabric conditioner. We have had some stability problems on a couple of batches of the Fabric Conditioner and are in the process of rectifying the problem. Moving forward we will be introducing a new formulation hopefully for May 2010 to avoid any problems in future.
In the meantime please accept our apologies and if you email me at paulc@suma.coop with your contact details I will send you out some free fabric conditioner that is not affected.

Apologies for not being able to find our customer services number, it is on our contact us page, but under the heading customer information, as this is what we call our customer services department. We’ll change the heading on our site to ‘customer information / customer services’, as this makes it a lot clearer and easier to find when using the search tool.

    Regards

Good to see you’re introducing new products. Have always liked your products as they’re simple in design and clean well, meaning they’re low cost but do a good job.

  • Phil says:

Great to see a new environmentally friendly cleaning range coming on to the market. Just a few questions.

What environment certifications does the range have, or what plans do you have here?

    Is the range hypoallergenic?

Is it possible for customers to refill, as we try to minimise our use of plastics? If not, any plans for this option?

The only product I am not so taken by, is the hand soap, as it looks rather industrial in appearance. Sorry.

Thanks. Looking forward to your reply.

    Hello.

Is your Eco Leaf range available in Denmark, or do you have any plans to sell it here? If it is, where may I find it?

    Thanks.

  • paulc says:

  • Sarah says:

Hi. I really like using your productss. I have switched from Ecover to use Ecoleaf toliet cleaner, washing up liquid and clothes washing liquid. I bought 5 litre bottles so that I could refill my smaller bottles. Are you doing any refills yet?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

  • Paul Collins says:

    Hi Sarah
Regarding the toilet cleaner we are looking into
the possiblility of doing a 20l refil size, as we have
had a few people ask about the possiblity. Once we think
it is viable then we will post details on our website.
    Thank you for your post.

    Regards
    Paul

  • Paul says:

Great products but why not obtain a third party certification, to truly demonstrate it’s environmntally friendler. For example the EU Ecolabel, which appears on lots of cleaning products now – see http://www.ecolabel.eu.

    thanks

    Paul
