Happy birthday Ginger vegetarian cafe
On 3rd October, the Ginger Vegetarian Café in Halifax celebrated a full year in business. This achievement was marked by a party hosted for its valued customers and highly regarded suppliers. Co owner Mark Stott said, “In the current climate that the country is in, we think it is a huge success running any small business, let alone one which is such a niche market, although it seems that many of our customers are not vegetarian, but just like what we do.”
Ginger Cafe became a member of the Vegetarian Society’s Food and Drink Guild in January, and remains the only cafe in the area to hold such an accolade, something that co owner Clare Hind is very proud of. “Being part of the guild has really made us look into products that claim to be vegetarian but contain some things that the society do not allow. Its great to deal with a company like Suma where you can buy with 100% confidence, plus they are only down the road and so easy to deal with.”
Owned and run by Mark (a chef for 15 years) and Clare (with a background of managing health food shops), the cafe has already reached the final of the Vegetarian Society Chef of the Future contest, as well as being nominated for The Vegetarian Society’s Best Catering for Vegetarians National Award.
